Summary and analysis is not a hard concept once you have done it a few times. We are constantly analyzing things that happen in our lives everyday. We always have a thought or idea about what is going on around us and it is up to ourselves to figure out what we think about it. Something new we have learned in class is adding a quote sandwich in our summary. This has been challenging and somewhat confusing to learn how to do. With more practice it will eventually become easier to do this concept. It really makes you look at all angles of a quote instead of looking at a single quote and having a single thought about it. I wish I was better at making quote sandwiches, but it is something that I was just introduced.
Summarizing
To write a good summary, you have to understand the piece you are summarizing. Without the knowledge of the main points in a document one is unable to make a great summary. You must identify the claim within the writing, this is what the paper is going to be revolving around, basically the main focus of the paper. Then you must analyze the information given to you. Try to get an understanding of why the author was making the point he/she were trying to make. The next step is to create a summary that points out the main ideas of the paper into a way that is not biased, but more informational.
