To future students of dr. bonnie lenore kyburz,
For starters, you will eventually understand why I wrote her name in all lowercase, I know it is not the proper why to write someone's name, but that is how she likes it. Dr. kyburz is one of the greatest teachers because she allows so much freedom when it comes to writing and coming up with creative ideas. She is always there to help when needed and wants her students to grasp onto writing techniques that make their papers stand out to the best of their ability. She allowed us to not only create papers and talk about them, but let us show people our work in the form of a video. I have never had a writing teacher let us create a video of our own that relates to a piece we wrote about. It really shocked me to see how talented some of the people were in my class when they presented their videos. I learned that you can say so much with such little words in these multimodal videos. She wants all of us to have our own voice and to use it to stand up for what we believe in. She has taught me to stick with what I feel and let people know what my opinion is no matter what anyone else has to say about it.
Another tip for taking this class, she uses Purdue owl as a reference if we need tips or help when creating a paper. If your ever unsure about something in a paper use Purdue owl to help answer any questions you need. Also, she usually posts examples of papers from other classes or past students on the class blog and those helped a lot when I wasn't sure how to start or organize a paper.
For the most part her class isn't hard. It just challenges you to think deeper into the themes or ideas of your papers and the outcome is better than you ever thought it would be. I had a great experience being in her class and hope that all the future students do as well.

Summary and analysis is not a hard concept once you have done it a few times. We are constantly analyzing things that happen in our lives everyday. We always have a thought or idea about what is going on around us and it is up to ourselves to figure out what we think about it. Something new we have learned in class is adding a quote sandwich in our summary. This has been challenging and somewhat confusing to learn how to do. With more practice it will eventually become easier to do this concept. It really makes you look at all angles of a quote instead of looking at a single quote and having a single thought about it. I wish I was better at making quote sandwiches, but it is something that I was just introduced.
Summarizing
To write a good summary, you have to understand the piece you are summarizing. Without the knowledge of the main points in a document one is unable to make a great summary. You must identify the claim within the writing, this is what the paper is going to be revolving around, basically the main focus of the paper. Then you must analyze the information given to you. Try to get an understanding of why the author was making the point he/she were trying to make. The next step is to create a summary that points out the main ideas of the paper into a way that is not biased, but more informational.

The need for Dog Parks
I decided to create a video about the need for more dog
parks in the area that I live in. I believe that there should be this option so
that dogs are able to go run and play with other dogs along with not having to
be on a leash the whole time. This would help give dogs exercise as well as
their owners. It is important to remember to keep these dog parks clean as
well. That means picking up any trash or poop that your dog left. The main
reasons we do not have a dog park where I live is because people most likely
did not pick up after their dog and did not keep them on their leash which led
to the possibility of someone getting hurt. We need these dog parks because it
is unfair that dog owners have to stay only on the sidewalks, street, and even
their own yards.

Realization
In class, we watched and listened to a speech. One that would give a graduate a sense of belonging and understanding. Watching the video, I noticed certain parts of the speech were written out and shown. Also, the people in the video looked unhappy with their life. These people were shown as ordinary men and women that go to work, go to the store, look tired, and no one looked happy. The video made reality look like a complete hell to be honest. It made me realize there is much more to life and sometimes it hard to recognize that. We all judge in our own way even though sometimes we do not realize it. There comes the moment when you notice you might be staring at someone and suddenly notice your judging everything they are doing. The truth is though we have no idea what may be going on in that person's life, so who are we to judge or make comments. No one is perfect and no one should be, and the sooner we all face that fact the better life will be for everyone.

Questioning
As humans we have a natural desire to wonder about the world we live in. We always are looking for answers to our questions. Sometimes there may not be a right or wrong answer, but there is always some sort of correct response we are looking for, or a type of response that gives us reason. Asking questions is the key in finding out what each of us want to know in life. What makes a good question? That's simple. Being unsure, confused, and interested, are just some of the ways a person can come up with a good question. Questions are made to help someone understand and move forward in life no matter how big or small the question may be. It enables us to get clarity if we need it. So, ask as many question as it takes. Don't be shy about asking questions. In the long run it is absolutely worth it.

Falling For You
There is no doubt that the summer is coming to an end. As the weather slowly changes we get the feel of fall. The days slowly begin to get shorter as nighttime comes quicker. Being able to see the leaves change colors and eventually begin to fall makes me happy. The fall weather is something I live for. Sweater weather as everyone knows is the best time of the year. It's chilly outside but not to cold that you have to wear a coat quite yet. Of course the most popular thing to wear during this season is a cute scarf. Who doesn't love an outfit where you can easily wrap a scarf around your neck and look like a million bucks, and plus they are comfy. And who doesn't love all the pumpkin flavored food and drinks that take over the month of October. It is hard to deny that pumpkin anything isn't delicious. Not only does this time of year make me think of pumpkin flavored treats, but also the excitement of Halloween. It is the one time of where it's ok to look ridiculous and be anything you could ever think of. It's fun to dress up with friends and go out for a good time. Also, just think of all the candy that probably sits around the house until the 31st. Also, you can't forget about going to the pumpkin patch and picking out the perfect pumpkin to carve. Then there is the corn mazes, bonfires, and hayrack rides that puts everyone in a good mood. The least I can say is I'm super excited for fall to get here and that it is the greatest season.
